Abnormal Menstrual Bleeding

There are many different causes of abnormal menstrual bleeding.

The first job of your gynaecologist is to be sure there is nothing dangerous causing your abnormal bleeding. This includes excluding cancers of the cervix, uterus and ovaries and infection.

To determine the cause of your abnormal bleeding a pelvic examination, ultrasound, pap smear and swabs may all be required.

Usually abnormal bleeding is nothing sinister and can be easily treated.
